Treatment Specialties: Kayla has experience with children, adolescents, adults, individuals with disabilities and long-term medical conditions, geriatric population, couples, families, and individuals within the corrections system (youth-adult). She is well versed in grief, trauma, anxiety, depression and life transitions.  Kayla sits with each person and looks at presenting concerns and collaborates to create a plan for alleviating symptoms. She then works together with clients using the co-created plan as a framework to attain sustained improvement, for a person/situation specific tailored treatment approach. Throughout the shared time together, Kayla will discuss effective communication skills, problem solving, goal setting, co-parenting and parenting skills, relationship issues, self-esteem, trauma and much more. 

Training and Experience: Kayla has a bachelor’s degree from Viterbo University in Psychology with a focus in substance abuse. She graduated from Winona State University in 2020 amongst the pandemic and an ever-changing world. She is also an approved EMDR Basic Training provider. Kayla has experience working within many different systems and populations. She has worked within the corrections systems, public service, human service systems, geriatric population, and private practice settings. 

Techniques: Kayla brings compassion and theory to every individual she works with. She uses a variety of different therapeutic modalities including but not limited to solution focused, cognitive behavioral theory, cognitive processing therapy (CPT), eye movement desensitization reprocessing (EMDR)- with somatic insight (SAFE), and client centered. Kayla listens to what each person needs from therapy and adjusts her theoretical approach to best suit the person sitting with her.
